Upon accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, by grace through faith, a believer becomes part of the body of Christ, which is the church. There is one church universal which is made up of all those world wide, present, past and future who profess Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord. The true church can be recognized if it has the following marks:

  • The church engages in pure preaching of the Word of God.
  • It makes use of the pure administration of the sacraments as Christ instituted them.
  • It practices church discipline.

The Scriptures command believers to gather in order to devote themselves to worship, the preaching and teaching of the Word, observance of the sacraments, fellowship, service to the fellowship of believers through the development of talents and gifts and outreach to the world.

Wherever true believers meet regularly in obedience to this command, there is the local expression of the church. Under the oversight of elders, the church members are to work together in love and unity with the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.
